South Ward Promise Neighborhood gifts 50 laptops to bridge the technology divide
To help bridge the technology divide in Newark’s South Ward, South Ward Promise Neighborhood (SWPN), an initiative of the BRICK Education Network, graciously gifted 50 new Dell Chromebooks to Newark Opportunity Youth Network (NOYN). Students at LEAD Charter School, the education initiative of NOYN, will receive the laptops, not only to use for the school year, but to keep for continued learning.
Newark’s Summer Youth Employment Program shines on national stage
In December 2020, The Aspen Institute’s Forum for Community Solutions released its updated Digital Summer Youth Employment Toolkit, a resource guide of best practices from successful Summer Youth Employment Programs (SYEP) designed to strengthen programs in communities across the nation.
Among the model programs is Newark Youth One Stop, whose unique design and success is turning heads across the country.
Leaders For Life receives $15k donation, 25 laptops
Newark Opportunity Youth Network (NOYN) presented Altarik White of Leaders for Life with a $15,000 check and 25 laptops for students in recognition of White’s years of service in Newark.
